Passport New/Renewal

A Passport is an official travel document issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, enabling Indian citizens to travel internationally. Applicants can apply for a Fresh Passport (first-time issuance) or a Re-issue/Renewal of Passport due to expiry, exhaustion of pages, damage, loss, change in personal particulars, or other valid reasons. Applications are submitted online through the Passport Seva Portal and processed at Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs).

Eligibility

For New Passport 

1. Applicant must be an Indian citizen.

2. Applicant should possess valid identity and address proof.

3. Applicant must satisfy the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Ministry of External Affairs.

For Passport Renewal / Re-issue

1. Applicant must hold an existing Indian passport.

2. Passport may be due for expiry, expired, damaged, lost, exhausted, or require changes in personal particulars.

3. Applicant must submit the required supporting documents based on the reason for re-issue.

3. Proof of Date of Birth

4. Passport-size Photograph (if required)

5. Mobile Number

6. Existing Passport (for renewal/re-issue)

Supporting Documents

1. Birth certificate

2. PAN

3. Police verification

Processing Time

1. Normal Application: Approximately 15–30 Working Days

2. Tatkaal Application: Generally 1–7 Working Days, subject to eligibility and verification.

Government Fee

As per the latest Passport Seva fee structure prescribed by the Ministry of External Affairs. Fee varies depending on passport type, number of pages, applicant’s age, and Normal/Tatkaal service.
