Aadhaar Deactivation

Aadhaar Deactivation is the process of marking an Aadhaar number as inactive or invalid by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) under specific circumstances, such as the death of the Aadhaar holder, duplicate Aadhaar records identified by UIDAI, or as directed under applicable laws. Aadhaar cannot be voluntarily deactivated by an individual. In the case of a deceased person, family members can report the death to help update government records and prevent misuse of the Aadhaar number.

Eligibility

1. Applicant must be the Aadhaar holder or an authorized representative, where applicable.

2. For deceased persons, the request may be made by a legal heir or immediate family member.

3. The request must fall under the circumstances permitted by UIDAI or the concerned Government authority.

4. Supporting documents must be provided for verification.
